INSPIRED BY THE WORLD CHAMPS?
The World Aquatics Water Polo Championships in Sydney have wrapped up after an incredible week of world-class competition.
Australian fans had plenty to cheer about, with the Aussie Stingers claiming a well-deserved bronze medal and the Sharks producing their best World Championship result in years with an impressive fourth-place finish. Throughout the tournament, audiences were treated to fast-paced matches, spectacular goals and incredible displays of athleticism, teamwork and determination.
Here at Richmond Water Polo Club, we were also proud to see our Men's State League 1 coach, Rowie Webster, sharing her knowledge and passion for the sport as part of the tournament's commentary team.
For many people, the World Championships were their first real look at water polo. If you found yourself thinking, "That looks like fun," you're not alone.
The great thing about water polo is that everyone starts somewhere. You don't need to have played before, and you certainly don't need to be an elite athlete. All you need is a willingness to jump in and have a go.
Whether you're:
A swimmer looking to be part of a team sport.
A young player wanting to learn the fundamentals of the game.
A teenager looking to take your school water polo to the next level.
An adult wanting a fun and social way to stay active.
Or a former player thinking about making a return to the pool.
...there's a place for you at Richmond Water Polo Club.
We offer programs for players from 7 years of age through to seniors, with experienced coaches who are passionate about helping players develop their skills, build confidence and enjoy everything that makes water polo such a rewarding sport.
The season is already underway, but it's not too late to join. We currently have places available in several of our junior and senior squads, making this the perfect time to get involved.
The best way to discover whether water polo is for you is to come along to a training session, meet our coaches and players, and experience the game for yourself. Whether your goal is to make new friends, improve your swimming, prepare for school water polo or simply try something different, we'll help you find the group that's right for you.
The World Championships may be over, but your own water polo journey could be just beginning.
