ROWIE ON THE MIC
If you watched the 2026 World Aquatics Water Polo World Cup in Sydney last week, you may have recognised a familiar voice.
Our very own Rowie Webster joined the commentary team for the tournament, bringing her knowledge, experience and passion for water polo to fans across Australia and around the world.
For those lucky enough to know Rowie, it came as no surprise. As a triple Olympian and one of Australia's most respected players, she has an incredible understanding of the sport. Just as importantly, she has a way of making water polo enjoyable and accessible, whether she's chatting to new players on pool deck or breaking down the action for an international audience.
There was expert analysis, great banter and even a perfectly timed "falcon" call. IYKYK.
The response from viewers says it all. Fans described the commentary as "exceptional", "the best water polo commentary I've ever heard" and praised Rowie's knowledge, humour and ability to bring the game to life. One comment summed it up perfectly:
"We need Rowie Webster as a staple on the Australian commentating team for our international games. Her knowledge, expertise, banter and all-round awesome ability to entertain really brought the game to life."
We couldn't agree more.
While the rest of the water polo world was getting to know Rowie behind the microphone, we've been lucky enough to have her around Richmond for years. Whether she's pulling on the cap for our Men's SL1 team, sharing her experience with teammates or inspiring the next generation of players around the club, Rowie is one of those people who makes Richmond Water Polo such a special place.
Congratulations, Rowie, on an awesome week in Sydney. We're incredibly proud to have you representing both our club and Australian water polo so brilliantly.
