Richmond Water Polo Club is incredibly proud of our players who represented Victoria at the 2026 National State Championships (NSC), held in Melbourne from 29 September to 3 October.

The five-day tournament brought together 448 of Australia’s best 15&U and 17&U water polo players for a national competition between the states. With 32 teams competing across the two age groups, the championships provided a fantastic opportunity for the next generation of Australian water polo talent to test themselves against the best in the country.

Richmond Represented Across Four Teams

Richmond was proudly represented across all four Victorian teams, with 28 club players selected across the U15 Girls, U15 Boys, U17 Girls and U17 Boys squads.

U15 Girls: Harriet B., Mackenzie W., Sarah D. and Rafaella B.

U15 Boys: Angus N., Gus W., Josh W. and Lachlan C.

Bronze for the U17 Girls and Tournament Honours for Jacob H.

A special congratulations to our U17 Girls, who delivered an outstanding tournament to finish third nationally and bring home the bronze medal. A fantastic achievement for the players and their coaching team.

Congratulations also to Jacob H., who was named Most Valuable Goalkeeper (MVGK) of the tournament in the U17 Boys Division. This is an outstanding individual achievement and well-deserved recognition of his performances throughout the championships.

A Pathway to the National Stage

The National State Championships are an important part of the development pathway for Australia's emerging water polo talent. The tournament also serves as a selection event for Water Polo Australia's National Age Group Program squads, providing athletes with an opportunity to take another step towards representing Australia.

We also extend our thanks to coaches Rowan B., Ben A. and Lucy B. for their dedication, preparation and support of the Victorian teams throughout the championships.

Congratulations to all our Richmond representatives. We are proud to see you wearing the Victorian colours and representing our club on the national stage. Your hard work, commitment and passion for water polo are something to celebrate.

Well done to everyone involved!
