COUNTDOWN TO SINGAPORE
World Aquatics Championships Just Weeks Away!
With just over three weeks to go, the stage is set for the 22nd World Aquatics Championships in Singapore with all 32 qualified water polo teams now knowing their paths through the group phase.
We’ll be cheering loudly for our Aussie Stingers and Aussie Sharks as they take on the world’s best, and with Singapore only two hours behind AEST, you won’t need to set any early alarms to catch the action live!
We can’t wait for nearly two weeks of the world’s best water polo, from debut appearances to Olympic champions, this tournament will showcase the sport at its highest level.
Women’s Tournament: 11–23 July
Fresh off their Olympic silver medal performance in Paris, the Aussie Stingers are set to open their campaign on 11 July against hosts Singapore, who are making their debut appearance in women’s water polo at a World Championships.
Competing in Group A, the Stingers will also face Italy and New Zealand in the preliminary rounds.
Women’s Teams:
Argentina, Australia, China, Croatia, France, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, United States.
Men’s Tournament: 12–24 July
The Aussie Sharks kick off their tournament on 12 July, facing off against Hungary (world-ranked #3) in what promises to be a challenging opener. In Group B, they’ll then take on Spain (ranked #2), followed by their final group match against Japan.
